The Minority Business Development Agency-Cleveland fosters the growth and global competitiveness of U.S. minority-owned businesses. The MBDA is building minority-owned firms of every size, scale and capacity. More than 6,000 new jobs were created and thousands more were retained by minority firms in 2010 as a result of MBDA’s programs and services. The MBDA has helped minority-owned firms access nearly $4 billion in contracts and capital.
MBDA’s vision was to create economic prosperity for minority-owned businesses in Cleveland. Their goal was to foster relationships with minority-owned enterprises and to create a forum where they would be presented with growth strategies needed to expand their professional networks. The conference served as an opportunity to increase MBE visibility and help achieve professional success.
Singleton & Partners planned and executed a conference where minority businesses had an opportunity to present their company to procurement officers from several major corporations, obtain information regarding access to capital, complete logistical planning, develop company infrastructure network with experts to identify potential markets and acquire information to generate strategic alliances. In 2012-2013, S&P worked with MBDA and its partners to plan their first national business conference for the purpose of generating revenue for minority businesses. The event was hugely successful, with participation from procurement officers and MBEs.
Through a combination of event planning and comprehensive marketing strategy, we were able to market this conference to Ohio and out-of-state MBEs. As a result, the MBDA Business-to-Business Conference drew a crowd of over 300 MBEs, over 75 corporate procurement officers and many more contract opportunities.
